tiny Posted March 8, 2008 Report Posted March 8, 2008 First i've heard, and if it was a problem, it would have been on here by now! Quote
JohnR Posted March 8, 2008 Report Posted March 8, 2008 (edited) TDi 115 does have the Ford 6-speed box. Generally ok, but mine is starting to lose the synchro on 3rd gear (crashes if you change too quickly) after 120,000 miles. Just have to wait a few milliseconds longer when changing up in order to match revs. As Tiny says, we haven't seen significant numbers of problems reported here so think the story could be a red herring. gregers Posted March 8, 2008 Report Posted March 8, 2008 me thinks maybe the vw has been hanging round the showroom a bit too long hence the comment? Quote

You tried changing your gearbox oil? Quote
marinabrid Posted March 10, 2008 Author Report Posted March 10, 2008 think i explained wrongon the forum there are a lot of items where the driver cant select 3 or 4 gear, sometimes the cables have become loose form the coupling but i thought id read that on a lot , a bolt in the gearbox has sheared and the selector wont move. i think this is what im on about Quote
mk2vr6 Posted March 10, 2008 Report Posted March 10, 2008 but i thought id read that on a lot , a bolt in the gearbox has sheared and the selector wont move. i think this is what im on about your correct there have been a few cases of the bolt on the selector shaft failing and dropping into the box! if your lucky the bolt will fall to the bottom of the box and do no damage! but worse case! it gets chewed up on the way down and totals the box!
